Merlot is one of the world’s most popular red sorts and in the vineyards of Baranya it displays its full potential, as the Danube Basin due to its stable continental climate provides for sufficient days of unrestrained vegetation, not only for the local, but also for the international red sorts. Belje’s Merlot mostly exhibits a deep, smoky red color reflecting the relatively high extracts. Predominant on the nose are sour cherry and raspberry, followed by secondary spicy touches forming a complex and warm bouquet. The wine is elegant and harmonious, with a long finish.
Belje’s Premium Merlot is juicy and dense which makes it suitable for beef tenderloin steak and other grilled beef steaks just as, for example, the Argentinian Malbec. Lamb cutlets, lamb burgers and other grilled red meat will also enjoy the company of Belje’s Premium Merlot.
