Belje’s cuvée with 70 per cent Cabernet and 30 per cent Merlot successfully reflects a recipe which has been untouched for centuries, featuring pronounced fruitiness and juiciness.
Being rather complex, this wine requires meals of multi-layered taste such as pašticada, boeuf bourguignon or beef Wellington, where the cabernet’s acidity gently emerges through the foie gras fat, while the Merlot’s smoky fruitiness works well with rare beef. If you are not at a high-end restaurant, order this wine with grilled rump steak or beef tenderloin steak.
