Premium Frankovka is one of Belje’s most important wines, as it stands for the authenticity of the terroir of Slavonia and Baranya. Like Graševina, Frankovka is not an indigenous Croatian grape sort, but has through its long-standing cultivation become an essential red sort of Eastern Croatia. On the Danubian terroir Frankovka really bears great results, as the wines are fruity, spicy and sweet with alcohol. The best Frankovka wines are the very peak of affordable hedonism when it comes to Croatian red wines. Belje’s Premium Frankovka features a pure ruby color and strong fruity aromas ranging from the pinot-esque strawberry to cherry, sour cherry and prune. At the same time it is very fresh due to good acids and has a long aging potential.
Food like deer carpaccio is a great match for Premium Frankovka. Yet any venison stew, whether deer or wild boar, and any good red deer or roe deer steak as well as grilled beef or roast duck will work well with this rich, fruity, broad and moderately aromatic wine.
