The story of Belje wines starts in its own vineyards spanning 564 hectares on the Banovo brdo hill, with an 8-kilometer Wine Road meandering through its breathtaking landscapes.
Belje’s vineyards extend along the southern slopes of the Banovo Brdo hill in Baranja, which protects them from strong winds from the north. Due to its ideal position, the location receives a substantial amount of sunshine every year. The picturesque vineyard landscapes are traversed by one of the most beautiful wine roads in Croatia, featuring a lookout for the visitors to enjoy. Located half way along the wine road, overlooking the Karanačko brdo vine-growing location, and surrounded by millions of vine stocks, the lookout is the ideal place to take a break and enjoy the view of endless hectares of vineyards, the landscapes of the Croatian Danube region, and the city of Osijek.
Graševina accounts for more than 85% of vine plantings, which makes it the predominant wine variety in Belje and in the entire Croatian Danube region. The remarkable wines produced from graševina grapes convinced international oenologists that Baranja and the Croatian Danube region are the global benchmark for graševina. In addition to graševina, international red varieties cabernet sauvignon and merlot are also successfully grown in Belje’s vineyards, with blue Frankish occupying a special place as a typical Central European variety.
